Scientist Gagandeep Kang Resigns
India’s Famous Medical Scientist Gagandeep Kang, who was one of the scientists who played an important role in the manufacture of the rotavirus vaccine, has resigned as the Executive Director of the Translated Health Sciences and Technology Institute (THSTI). This department comes under the Department of Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
It is a public health research institute present in Faridabad. Gagandeep resigned from his post on Monday citing personal reasons. Kang is known for international research. He has worked for the communication, development, and prevention of infections in children in India. She is associated with the Global Consortium Council for Epidemic Preparedness. The institute is developing a vaccine for coronavirus.
She is the first woman from India to be a fellow of the Royal Society (FRS), London. The resignation of the woman scientist came at a time when the vaccine is made by her was closed by the inquiry committee. While resigning on Monday, Dr. Kang said that he has resigned due to personal reasons.
Kang, a professor in the Department of Gastrointestinal Sciences at the Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore, was working at THSTI in 2016, with one year remaining. In recent months, Kang was involved in the work of a vaccine being made to treat coronavirus.
